Unless otherwise specified, concrete project proposals are not required. However, if you are proposing to work in Distance Lab for less than one year and you are not responding to a specific advertisement, a project proposal is recommended, or at least you should be as detailed as possible about specific activities you propose to carry out.

If you wish your work at Distance Lab to contribute directly to activity required by your degree, a suitable arrangement should be forged among all the parties involved, including the academic institution in question, your academic advisor at that institution, and Distance Lab. If you have already been accepted or are currently enrolled in an academic degree programme and you are interested in pursuing an arrangement like this, please give detailed information below.

Recruitment channels

Where did you first hear about this position? From our mailing list? By browsing our web site? A print or web ad? Word of mouth? This information will help us evaluate the effectiveness of our recruitment channels:

Confidential Disclosure of Criminal Convictions

This post may involve contact with young people under the age of 18 and vulnerable adults. The post is therefore covered by the Exemptions Order to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and spent convictions must be declared.

Any information you provide will be treated as strictly confidential and will be considered only in relation to this application.

Disclosure of a conviction or caution does not necessarily mean that you will not be appointed. A candidate’s suitability will be assessed in light of all the information available. A main consideration will be whether the offence is one that would make a candidate unsuitable to work in a capacity that provides the opportunity for access to young persons or vulnerable adults.

Please enter the details of any criminal conviction or caution order below. For each offence, please state the date and nature of the offence, where it occurred, date of conviction and court, and the sentence given.

If you have not been convicted of any criminal offence, please enter "none".

A background check will be performed for successful candidates to verify the information provided above. This will involve us obtaining either a standard or an enhanced disclosure (depending upon the role) from the Scottish Criminal Record Office Disclosure Service, or an analogous record from another part of the world.

We are committed to ensuring all candidates are treated on the basis of their merits and abilities, and that unfair and unlawful discrimination is eliminated.

Disability

Disability is defined in the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 as a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial long-term effect on a person’s ability to carry out normal day to day activities. "Long term" is taken to mean lasting for a period greater than twelve months or where the total period is likely to last at least twelve months.

Do you consider yourself to be disabled within the definition of this Act?
Yes
No

We recognise that many people who may be considered disabled under the terms of the DDA do not require any assistance or support. However for those who may, equipment, computer software, flexible working, other support or reasonable adjustment may be available, so an individual’s impairment would have little or no bearing on their capability to realise their employment potential. If you wish, please give further details here of any equipment or support you may need because of your disability to carry out the duties described in the job description or during the interview selection process. This may include any special consideration for access.
